It took awhile but once BM got into Flash, it was game on! Flash can be fun once you get over some initial frustrations.
Here are a few animated ad banners created for some new and existing clients. American Express allowed us to add sound effects for their Purchase Protection banner.
Also added a little dramatic music for Hypnotica’s blog banner. And an internet marketing banner for Inner Confidence.

Volume 1 was intended to get attention and introduce people to Hypnotica. It worked. Volume 2? Warm and friendly.

The problem with key art for independent films is there is often a low budget involved when they are first released. This usually affects the quality of the key art. So, often even quality films shown at top festivals can’t be sold because the presentation is poor.
A distributor in Hollywood asked me to create fresh key art for their DVDs to help them to sell. Here is the first one I created for The Minority.

Software engineer Dominic Chang approached me about branding a new start up. After discussing the project, we decided the best approach would be to come up with a unique name for the company. The name emplementation essentially is a combination of “electronic” and “implementation”. Chang also liked the tagline that BM presented, “elegant business solutions.”
The logo and business cards are shown. The start up website is being developed. Check back soon for the final site.

Dating experts Robbie & Brian…or is it Brian & Robbie? Anyway, the guys from Inner Confidence contacted me about branding their new women’s division. They wanted to build on their success in the men’s dating market. I previously developed an identity and branding package for their company which was well received.
They needed to begin marketing online and offline for their new women’s division ASAP. Blue Moon developed a blog and brochures (below) for their first seminar to get them started.

The DVD package for the independent film, Moving In has been printed. I worked on the opening titles for the short film. It went well, so filmmaker Chase Gordon asked me to created the DVD package. Stories On Film needed a package quickly so they could send it out to film festivals.

Here is the Leon Jackson video for Creative that inspired the No Talent Jones key art in an earlier post. The link in the earlier post has been broken because of copyright issues in the US.
Many people have emailed me asking about Jackson and the song. I like the song and the video. I don’t know why it was never released in the US. That’s the music biz, I guess. The video was used as an inspiration because No Talent Jones will be about a modern day crooner.

Hypnotica is a personal development guru. With his first DVD – Volume 1, producer Steve Myles wanted a DVD jacket that was impactful to introduce him to the public and establish him as a brand.
I designed a cover that reflected Hypnotica’s intense personality and that looked like he was being interrogated.

Viva Creative called again. They needed a quick turnaround for a logo with a small budget. It was for a fundraising auction for a school. It was important for the logo to look good in B&W. It was to be used on the cover of the auction catalog in B&W. They were also going to use the logo on donor forms, a website, and all the publicity for the auction.
The school committee giving alot of direction before the project started. The seemed to think they knew what they wanted. But, they eventually went with what I proposed. The final is shown in B&W below.

This project happened during the summer. I’m now allowed to chat about it.
While Mike Binder was working on the script for his next feature film project, he asked me to start designing key art to help flesh out the look and feel of the movie. No Talent Jones is a musical comedy set in Detroit. Mike was trying to sign Leon Jackson to star. Jackson was the winner of The X Factor, Britain’s version of American Idol.
Mike liked the retro Blue Note Jazz look of one of my early comps and wanted to explore that direction further. I used one of Jackson’s music videos as a resource. I presented these three designs in horizontal format that would be used for both outdoor and online.

Mike liked the top one with Jackson’s arm extended. I created a web page with the lock-up that will promote the concert accompanying the screening in selected cities.

The project was due to be shot this winter but is being delayed for six to nine months. Leon Jackson has agreed to do the project.
